HISTORY
In the 1930s, a building of the Workers' Social Insurance Institute with inpatient wards and outpatient clinics was built in Bratislava on Bezručová street. Since 1939, the head of the internal department was prof. MUDr. Ladislav Dérer, who later in 1945 became the head of the 1st Internal Clinic at the State Hospital on Mickiewiczova Street.

Three clinics in NsP on Bezručová street (internal medicine, surgery, gynecology-obstetrics) were merged into the Department of Clinical Disciplines for the Department of Dentistry of the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University. Cardiology, gastroenterology and diabetology were mainly developed at the internal clinic. The Department of Internal Medicine Nursing of the Institute for the Education of Health Professionals was also established here. In 1991, the joint department of the three clinics mentioned above was abolished and a separate IV. internal clinic of the Faculty of Medicine, UK.
After the completion of the construction of the new hospital in Petržalka, which lasted for many years, in 1997 all the clinics were moved there from the NsP on Bezručová street.
From doctors IV. of the internal clinic, some specialists did not transfer to the new Faculty Hospital of St. Cyril and Methodius. MUDr. Peter Ponťuch, CSc., who previously worked at the 1st internal clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Warsaw in the Faculty Hospital on Mickiewiczová street. The clinic continues to be the responsible workplace for the internal medicine teaching of students of the Faculty of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine in the field of dentistry, and the teaching of students in the field of general medicine also takes place here. The professional growth of young doctors is also documented by the fact that specialists from seven specialized fields are currently working at the clinic.
