Pregraduate studies

Graduate education has been provided since 1st April 2003. Specialized teaching of Slovak and foreign students of the fourth/fifth and sixth year of study is being provided on the premises of the Children's Cardiac Centre in Bratislava (The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases): inpatient ward + arrhythmology / outpatient department, diagnostic  department, cardiac ICU, postoperative ICU and the cardiac operating theatre.

The aim of the clinical seminars and practical internship in the Children's Cardiac Centre is the deepening of theoretical and practical knowledge of propaedeutics (of paediatric cardiology), the failing heart topic, congenital heart defects, arrhythmias, inflammatory diseases of the endo-/myo-/pericardium, cardiomyopathies, systemic arterial hypertension and the various imaging methods used in paediatric cardiology. We strongly recommend the students to attend the theoretical lectures devoted to paediatric cardiology throughout the semester for easier orientation in the matter, giving them substational background for further studies and practical work with the patients.

For those interested in paediatric cardiology, there is the possibility of a 2 week summer internship (counts for paediatric internship). Please note however, that the maximum number of students has been set to 2 students during 2 weeks, so in case of interest sign up in advance with the secretary.

An important part of graduate education is the supervision of students working on diploma theses, which have become mandatory since year 2010/2011.
