Dear students,

We would like to inform you about changes in coronavirus regulations effective as of tomorrow (Saturday October 24). An obligatory curfew is in place with following rules and exceptions:

CURFEW between October 24 - November 1 - Exceptions (when your movements are not restricted):

  • between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
  • COVID testing
  • going to work
  • visiting a doctor
  • visiting the closest shop selling foodstuffs, pharmacy or drugstore
  • visiting a post office, bank, insurance company, dry cleaner
  • It is possible to go out into nature, but only within Bratislava city boundaries (students in Martin: Martin administrative district boundaries)

These rules will change after the first round of testing on October 30 - November 1.

NATIONWIDE TESTING

State authorities continue with preparations for nationwide COVID testing. The government plans the first round of the testing on October 30 - November 1. Any person located in Slovakia during the testing will be tested free of charge. Instructions on where to go and how to proceed will be provided during next week. Testing will be done by nasal swab with results available 15-30 minutes after the test. The test is not obligatory but persons without a test will have to follow stricter quarantine (see below).

CURFEW AFTER TESTING between November 2 and November 8 (not yet officially declared, but very probable)

Same exceptions as above will apply for people with negative test results dated after October 30 (can be antigen or PCR test, not necessarily from the nationwide mass testing).

People without negative test results will have exceptions reduced to:

  • between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
  • COVID testing
  • visiting a doctor
  • visiting the closest shop selling foodstuffs, pharmacy or drugstore

TRAVEL:

  • The Government is reconsidering border policy, there might be some restrictions at the borders after November 1. More information will be available next week, but entry to Slovakia will probably be possible only with a negative COVID test result or the testing will be done at the border.
  • The Government is considering temporary cancellation of free train tickets for students and seniors
