She was born in 1971 in Bratislava. In 1996, she graduated from the 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, in study programme general medicine. In 2001, she completed her specialisation studies in Public Health Management (MPH). In 2003, she received her PhD. at the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Bratislava (FMCU) in social medicine. She completed her habilitation in 2017 at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague in hygiene, preventive medicine, and epidemiology. In 2019, she obtained a specialisation in public health. In 2018-2020, she completed an international course in applied epidemiology organised by the European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC). She was inaugurated in epidemiology at the University of Pavel Jozef Šafárik in Košice and was appointed professor in 2022. After completing her university studies in 1998-1999, she completed an internship at the School of Public Health, George Washington University in Washington, DC, USA. Between 2004 and 2006, she completed a post-doctoral research internship in the epidemiology of mental disorders at the School of Public Health, University of California in Berkeley, USA. From 2006 to 2017, she researched brain injury epidemiology at the International Neurotrauma Research Organization in Vienna, Austria. From 2007 to 2017, she worked as an assistant professor at the Department of Public Health of the Faculty of Health and Social Work of the University of Trnava. In 2017, she worked as a head at the Institute of Epidemiology of the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Bratislava in 2021. She researches the epidemiology of communicable and non-communicable diseases. So far, she has been the leading researcher of research projects supported by international and national grant agencies of the European Commission, APVV, VEGA, KEGA, MZ SR and others. Prof. MUDr. Alexandra Bražinová has more than 130 publications and more than 37,000 responses registered in the Web of Science/Scopus databases. She is an author and co-authors of chapters in scientific monographs, textbooks, and domestic and foreign peer-reviewed scientific journals.

At the same time, since 2015, he has also worked as an expert in epidemiology at the Regional Office of Public Health based in Bratislava. She is a member of several national and international professional societies and commissions (National Contact Point for HIV for ECDC, Global Burden of Disease Study working group, Mental Health Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic (SR), Slovak Medical Society (SMS), Slovak Epidemiological and Vaccinological Society (SEVS); Slovak Association of Public Health). She was awarded several times for her scientific and pedagogical activities. In 2000, she received an award from the Slovak Society of Health Law of SMS for the best publication. In 2017 she was awarded a premium by the Literary Fund for exceptional scientific acclaim for work in the natural and medical science category. In 2018 she was awarded by the League for Mental Health Award for contributing to mental health. In 2020 she was awarded the prize by the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic for significantly contributing to protecting and promoting human rights. In 2020 she was awarded the Women of Courage award by the US Embassy for her public work in ​​population health protection. In 2021 she was awarded the SEVS bronze medal for the scientific development of epidemiology.
